TrafficCraft: Traffic Light Countdown

A client-side Fabric addon for TrafficCraft by MrJulsen. Adds a countdown timer overlay on traffic lights — just like real-world traffic signals with countdown displays.

What it does

This mod renders a 7-segment digital countdown directly on the traffic light itself, showing how many seconds remain until the next phase change. It reads the schedule of each traffic light (or observes it, if controlled remotely) and displays the timer on the appropriate segment:

• Three-section lights — timer on the yellow segment
• Two-section lights (pedestrian) — timer on the currently unlit segment (so it doesn't blend with the active light)
• Single-section lights — no timer

The digits are color-coded to match the currently active signal (red or green), and are hidden entirely during yellow transition phases, since they're too short to be useful.

Why you should install it

• Makes intersections more realistic and immersive
• Helps players (and traffic!) know exactly when the light will change
• Zero configuration — works out of the box with any existing TrafficCraft setup
• Client-side only — no need to install on servers, works in vanilla multiplayer
• Supports Traffic Light Controllers — the addon automatically learns the phase timing by watching the light for 1-2 full cycles
• Handles edge cases: shows a blinking -- -- when the game is paused, blinks 99 for overly long phases

You must have all of the following installed:

• TrafficCraft 1.2.0-beta.3+ (Fabric)

Important notes

• The timer only appears when the light is running on a schedule (either its own or a controller's).
• For lights controlled by a Traffic Light Controller, the timer will not appear immediately — the addon needs to observe 1-2 full cycles to learn the phase durations. After that, it works normally.
• Phases shorter than 3 seconds (like standard yellow) intentionally show no timer.
• This mod does not modify any TrafficCraft blocks or gameplay — it only adds a visual overlay.
