Cryptid Core Co Field Operations

Deep in the forests and snowy backcountry, something is watching you. Six blocks tall. Human-shaped. Not human. It travels in families, hides behind trees, and hurls rocks when its kin are threatened.

Welcome to the Cryptid Core Co Field Operations Division.

What It Does

Cryptid Core Co Field Operations puts a real, believable Bigfoot population into your Minecraft world. Not a boss to grind — a species to track. Bigfoots live in family groups around hidden nests, hunt prey, leave footprints and fur and bone piles behind, and mostly want to be left alone. Mostly.

Explore a forest at night and you might hear a howl — or a wood knock echoing between the trees. Follow the tracks and you might find a family: kids that creep curiously toward you, adults that duck behind trunks and peek, and if you're unlucky, a silver Elder that doesn't run from anything.

You're not the first to come looking. Cryptid Core Co. field crews have been out here for years, and they left behind gear, journals, chest stashes, and the occasional torn recipe page. Find their stations. Read what they saw. Continue the work.

Whatever you do, don't touch the kids.

The Bigfoot

  • Redesigned Bigfoot based on witness sketches — broad shoulders, brow ridge, shaggy tufted fur, lifelike breathing and movement
  • Full variant roster: 4 age classes (kids to silver Elders), male and female builds, and 5 biome-locked fur colors (brown, black, white, cinnamon, silver)
  • Muddy variants — Bigfoots get muddy in the wild and dry off over time
  • Family groups of 5–10 with roughly 3 kids, nesting behavior, and 200-block home ranges
  • Curious kid Bigfoots that approach instead of flee — and a 40-block group vengeance system if you hurt one
  • Hiding and peeking behavior — the classic sighting, in game
  • Rock throwing (3 damage) from angry adults; Elders throw relentlessly
  • Random wild wood knocks, more frequent at night
  • Hunting behavior: adult Bigfoots pursue deer and drag their kills to growing bone piles
  • Bone piles: loot bone meal and rare Bigfoot Teeth — if you dare
  • Berry foraging: Bigfoots wander to wild berry bushes and forage alongside you
  • Crystal collecting: Bigfoots pick up placed crystals and relocate them into their territory

Evidence & Tracking

  • Footprints that fade, permanent scat, blood samples, fur snagged on tree trunks, stick teepees, twisted branches
  • Fur tufts in nine tinted colors matched to the Bigfoot that shed them
  • Plaster cast tool for preserving footprints as permanent field specimens
  • Kid-scale prints separate from adult prints — read the family group off the ground

The Deer

  • Nine biome-matched variants: Whitetail (default), Elk (taiga), Reindeer (snowy), Sika (birch), Cherry (cherry grove), Mule (savanna and desert), Muntjac (jungle), Sambar (dark taiga), and Moose (snowy — the largest, with palmate paddle antlers)
  • Buck / doe sex system that drives antlers and other model details
  • Kid-scale fawns with their own smaller footprints
  • Breedable, with venison and leather drops
  • Part of the food chain: hunted by adult Bigfoots and dragged to bone piles

Field Research Kit

  • Flashlight, camera, and audio recorder — documentation-style gameplay from the first inventory slot
  • Field Journal that fills out as you discover species, structures, food items, and evidence
  • Trail cameras that record what walks past them at night
  • Tree-knock stick — Bigfoots respond in kind, sometimes with more knocks, sometimes with rocks
  • Cryptid Core Co. branded cosmetic apparel (shirts and hats) worn over regular armor

Wilderness Food

  • 10 wild berry species growing in matched biomes: huckleberry, raspberry, blueberry, blackberry, strawberry, mulberry, cranberry, elderberry, gooseberry, and cloudberry
  • 5 nut sources: peanut bushes plus almond, walnut, pecan, and cashew trees
  • Drying Rack — a fuel-free block entity that turns beef and venison into long-lasting jerky in 40 seconds
  • Trail Mix Station — combine berries, nuts, and jerky into 12 different trail mix recipes with nutrition that scales by ingredient count
  • Agent Mix — the field crew's signature recipe, unlockable only by finding a Torn Recipe Page in Field Station loot

Crystals

  • Five mineable crystal ores scattered underground: Clear Quartz, Citrine, Rose Quartz, Black Tourmaline, and Labradorite
  • Placed crystal blocks in every color — leave them out where a Bigfoot might find one

Structures & Discovery

Six discoverable structures generate across forested biomes, from common to rare:

  • Stone Weir — small wilderness landmark, most common
  • Creek Boat House — abandoned dock, occasional boat inside
  • Campsite — four dark oak cabins around a firepit, signs of a hasty departure
  • Field Station — active-looking research post; supply chests, journals, and Torn Recipe Pages
  • Abandoned Field Station — long-forgotten Cryptid Core Co. site, weathered and overgrown
  • Watchtower — elevated observation post overlooking the forest

All six are /locate-able. Cartographer villagers at Expert level sell Field Station Maps; at Master level they sell Abandoned Station Maps — 13 emeralds and an empty map, the same terms as any vanilla treasure map.

The Lore

Every structure is part of Cryptid Core Co.'s decades-long field program. Read journals by Agent L, Agent X, and the rest of the crew scattered through Field Stations and campsites. The Cryptid Core Co. field agents themselves show up in-world too — Agent X, Agent Ropo, and generic Field Agents can be found near their posts.

How It Changes Gameplay

This isn't a horror mod and it isn't a boss mod. It's a mod that puts a living cryptid species in your world and gives you reasons to grab a torch and go looking. Every forest becomes a place where the birds might go quiet.

It's especially good for:

  • Cryptid hunting and documentary-style content
  • Roleplay and adventure worlds where mystery drives exploration
  • Survival worlds that need something in the woods
  • Anyone chasing the "did I just see that?" moment

Dedicated "Cryptid Core Co" creative tab collects every item, block, and spawn egg the mod adds.

Compatibility

Built for Minecraft 1.20.1 using Forge 47.4.10. No dependencies. Adds entities, blocks, biomes, structures, and items without changing vanilla mechanics. Plays nicely with most other mods.

Usage & Redistribution
