FINALLY! Place items on slabs!
Hang lanterns from slabs! Stack blocks on slabs! Stack blocks on those blocks on those slabs!*
Your slabs finally get the love they deserve ?
*Slabbed is still in beta. Expect some rough edges while it continues to improve and expand.
Remember when I said Terrain Slabs compat was coming "in a future update"?
THE FUTURE IS NOW. ✨
The much asked-for feature has arrived! With Countered's Terrain Slabs installed, terrain slabs become proper, first-class support:
| Terrain Slabs support | Highly recommended: Countered's Terrain Slabs | |
|---|---|---|
| ? | Flush, not floaty | Blocks, lanterns, torches & chains on terrain slabs lower to sit flush — no more hovering |
| ? | Combined slabs | Put a vanilla slab on top of a Terrain Slabs slab and they merge into one continuous surface.* |
| ? | 100% optional | Runs exactly the same with or without Terrain Slabs. No Terrain Slabs? No problem ? |
| ?️ | No more world gaps | Slabbed used to tear see-through holes in Terrain Slabs terrain, straight into the void. Gaps have officially been de-gapped ? |
And it's not just the compat — this release sands down a LOT of the cursed jank:
| What got better | What it means for you | |
|---|---|---|
| ? | Better targeting | Your crosshair and the selection box finally agree on where a lowered block actually is |
| ? | Fewer ghost windows | Less staring into the void through a lowered block! (I call these 'Doom Windows', or 'DODOs' :P) |
| ⬇️ | Less snapping | Freshly placed blocks stop doing the little dance - IYKYK |
| ? | More multi-stacking | Objects & full blocks on combined slabs sit flush, and vanilla slabs chain neatly when stacked |
*One-way for now: combining works when the vanilla slab sits on top of the Terrain Slabs slab — they lower and merge flush. The reverse (a Terrain Slabs slab on top of a vanilla slab) doesn't lower yet. It's a known limitation and on the list! ?️
In vanilla Minecraft, slabs are awkward supports. Objects look like they should sit on them, attach to them, or interact with them — but the game's placement and hitbox rules disagree.
Slabbed makes those situations feel consistent:
The long-term goal is broad slab support, but Slabbed expands carefully — category by category, by proven behavior.

These haven't gotten focused work yet and may misbehave:
| May misbehave | ||
|---|---|---|
| ? | Glass panes & bars | not slab-aware yet |
| ? | Carpets & thin top layers | excluded from offsets |
| ⚡ | Rails & redstone | visual / connection edge cases |
| ? | Signs & specialized attachments | not specially handled |
| ? | Heavily custom modded blocks | may need dedicated compat |
And two Terrain Slabs edge cases I'm being honest about:
| Terrain Slabs caveat | The deal | |
|---|---|---|
| ? | A custom slab placed on top of a vanilla slab | Doesn't lower yet — flip it around (vanilla on terrain) and you're golden ✨ |
| ? | Very tall (3+) combined-slab towers | Cap how far they lower, on purpose — keeps targeting reliable instead of breaking your clicks |
If something looks wrong, it probably is — and it's probably worth reporting (just see if it's already been reported first pleeease). ?
Mods that heavily customize block shapes, rendering, collision, placement, or models may still need dedicated compatibility work.
Bug reports are super duper helpful! The most useful ones include:
Slabbed's goal is simple:
Things should sit where they look like they sit.
Minecraft just makes that surprisingly complicated.
