TierVision

See everyone's PvP tier — from MCTiers, PvPTiers and SubTiers — without leaving the game.

TierVision puts Minecraft PvP tier rankings where you actually need them — above players' heads, in the tab list, and in a set of lookup screens you can open mid-lobby. It reads MCTiers, PvPTiers and SubTiers, which rank different kits and frequently disagree, and it never pretends one of them is the whole picture.

What it does

Tiers above players' heads. A badge on the nametag: the kit's logo, the tier, then the name.

🗡 HT1 | ItzRealMe
Works on PvP servers that hide nametags. Most practice and PvP servers switch the vanilla nametag off with a scoreboard team and draw their own floating name. That stops every ordinary nametag mod dead. TierVision notices when the game decided not to draw a label and supplies one itself, sitting clear of the server's own text. It tags the nearest 15 players by default, so a 300-player lobby stays readable.

Tiers in the tab list and chat. Tab is on by default. Chat is off by default — turn it on in settings if you want kill messages annotated.

Three sites, side by side. Each site gets its own panel rather than being blended into one number. They rank different kits, disagree about the same players, and go down independently — so "PvPTiers is unreachable" and "this player is unranked on PvPTiers" are shown as the different things they are, never both as a blank.

Site

Kits it ranks

  • MCTiers Vanilla, Sword, Axe, Pot, Netherite OP, UHC, SMP, Mace on by default

  • PvPTiers Sword, Axe, Pot, Netherite Pot, UHC, SMP, Mace, Crystal, Elytra on by default

  • SubTiers Bow, OG Vanilla, Manhunt, Bed, Trident, Diamond SMP, Diamond Vanilla, DeBuff,
Creeper, Speed, Minecart, Elytra off by default

SubTiers is opt-in, and stays gone when you turn it off. It ranks twelve kits that barely overlap the other two — Manhunt, Minecart, Bed, Creeper — which is exactly why you'd want it and exactly why it shouldn't turn up uninvited: most players ranked on MCTiers aren't on SubTiers at all. One toggle switches it on, and switching it back off removes it everywhere, lookup screens included.

Real kit artwork. The actual logos the tier sites use — sword, axe, mace, pot, SMP, UHC, Netherite OP, Netherite Pot, Vanilla, Crystal — rendered inline in nametags and chat as well as in the menus.

Achievement titles. Combat Grandmaster down to Rookie, derived from the player's point total the same way the site does it, with the matching badge.

3D player models. Look up any username and see their actual skin in 3D — including players who aren't online, aren't on your server, and never have been.

How to use it

Two keys, both rebindable under Options → Controls → TierVision:

Key Opens
G Nearest player — a card for whoever is standing closest to you
Y Lookup — search any username, or browse everyone online sorted by tier
From the lookup screen you can open a full profile (every kit on every enabled site, with peak tiers, region, points, overall placement and badges) or a head-to-head comparison of two players.

Commands

Command Does

  • /tv Open the lookup screen
  • /tv config Settings
  • /tv lookup <player> Full profile for a player
  • /tv tell <player> Print a player's tiers into chat
  • /tv compare <a> <b> Head-to-head across every kit
  • /tv source <mctiers⎮pvptiers⎮subtiers> Turn a site on or off
  • /tv source <best⎮every> How to combine sites that rank the same kit
  • /tv mode <kit⎮best> Which kit the badge shows
  • /tv toggle Turn all displays on or off
  • /tv refresh Drop the cache and refetch
  • /tv status Config summary, per-site health, cache stats
  • /tiervision is the long form of every command.

Reading a badge
HT1 high tier 1 — the best placement there is
LT3 low tier 3
RHT2 retired at high tier 2
Colours run gold → orange → purple → blue → green as tiers descend, with retired placements desaturated. Set the kit to Best and each player's badge shows whichever kit they rank highest in; pick a specific kit and it shows that one everywhere.

When more than one enabled site ranks the same kit, Combine decides what you see: best gives one badge carrying the better placement, every gives one badge per site.

Settings worth knowing

Open with /tv config.

MCTiers / PvPTiers / SubTiers — one toggle each. Off means gone, everywhere
Combine — best placement, or one badge per site
Kit — a specific kit, or Best — up to six side by side
Tag if server hides — the PvP-server nametag feature above. On by default
Max tagged — how many nearby players carry a tag at once (default 15)
Only crosshair — restrict tags to whoever you're looking at
Chat — annotate player names in chat. Off by default
Combat HUD — an opponent card while you're fighting. Off by default
Show peak tier — append a player's best-ever tier when they've since dropped
Being a good neighbour
None of the tier sites offers a batch endpoint, so a busy lobby could mean a request per player. TierVision takes that seriously:

requests to a site are spaced apart and identical ones are collapsed into a single call;
a rate-limit or server error puts that site into exponential backoff, honouring Retry-After;
results are cached in memory and on disk, so tiers appear instantly on your next launch;
players the sites have never heard of are remembered as such, rather than asked about repeatedly; only the sites you have switched on are ever contacted — a disabled site costs nothing; chat never triggers a network request at all, and nametags and the tab list ask at most once a second per player however many frames go by. Drawing a badge is a cache read, not a lookup. Skins are resolved through Minecraft's own session-server path rather than a third-party avatar service, so looking someone up doesn't tell anyone else you did.

Install

Requires Fabric Loader 0.16+, Fabric API, and Java 21. Pick the jar matching your game:

Jar Minecraft

1.21.11 1.21.9 and newer

1.21.8 1.21.6 – 1.21.8

1.21.5 1.21.2 – 1.21.5

1.21.1 1.21 – 1.21.1

1.20.6 1.20.5 – 1.20.6

Drop the jar and Fabric API into your mods folder.

Notes

Not affiliated with MCTiers, PvPTiers or SubTiers. Kit artwork and site logos belong to them. SubTiers' own kit art isn't bundled yet, so its twelve kits show a representative vanilla item — a bow for Bow, a compass for Manhunt, a minecart for Minecart.

Some servers hide nametags deliberately. The feature that draws tags anyway never reveals a player who is invisible, sneaking, or hidden from you — it only labels players already rendering in front of you — but if your server would rather you didn't, it's one toggle in /tv config.
