What is ViveMonkeCraft?
ViveMonkeCraft brings Gorilla Tag-style locomotion to Minecraft VR. Grab walls, floors, and ceilings with your VR controllers, then physically push and pull yourself through the world. Release your grip while moving to convert your momentum into a jump.
The movement is inspired by Gorilla Tag but adapted to Minecraft's physics, collision system, and world scale. It feels familiar while remaining designed specifically for Minecraft.

Body & Reach
- Real Monke mode shrinks your collision box to fit through 1-block tunnels
- Monke Model removes player legs and synchronizes the model across players using the mod
- Adjustable arm reach
- Lowered camera option for improved hand alignment
- Hand hitbox markers for learning grab range
- Hand clamping keeps your hands planted on block surfaces
Ice Physics
- Ice walls and ceilings can be pushed off
- Ice cannot be reliably climbed
- Slippery movement with configurable behavior
- Experimental option for ice floors to behave like ice walls
Comfort
- Grip smoothing to reduce tracking noise
- Comfort vignette for motion sickness reduction
- GUI guard disables locomotion while menus are open

The mod automatically disables itself whenever VR is not active.
Multiplayer
Singleplayer / LAN / Essential
Works immediately with only the client mod.
If you host a LAN world or use Essential, connected players are automatically authorized without installing anything else.
Dedicated Servers
Dedicated servers require the ViveMonke Server companion mod.
Without the server mod installed, ViveMonkeCraft remains completely disabled. This prevents it from being used on servers that have not explicitly enabled it.

Movement Physics

Ice Physics
- Ice can be grabbed from any side.
- Ice walls and ceilings are too slippery to climb.
- Ice can still be used to push yourself away.
- Sliding speed is capped at 40% of player speed.
- Experimental option allows ice floors to behave like ice walls.

Install Mod Menu and Cloth Config for a complete settings interface.

Use commands without installing any additional mods.

QuestCraft
- Install using the QuestCraft built-in mod loader.
Or
- Copy the mod into the
modsfolder using SideQuest.
PCVR
- Install Java 21.
- Install Fabric Loader.
- Install Vivecraft.
- Place ViveMonkeCraft in the
modsfolder. - (Optional) Install Mod Menu and Cloth Config.
- Launch Minecraft in VR.
