Ashes is a Forge mod for Minecraft 1.20.1 that introduces new mobs, a multi-phase boss, a trait-based forging system, and a high-risk accessory.

Content (v0.1.1)

This release adds:

• 5 new mobs: Ashes Skeleton, Ashes Reaper, Ashes Roamer, Ashes Wolf, and Ashes Creeper
• 1 additional mob that spawns only when specific blocks are triggered (punishment-type, does not spawn naturally). Its spawning mechanics are identical to the vanilla Warden, and it is mutually exclusive with it — the Ashes variant will not spawn if a Warden is present, and vice versa.
• 1 boss: Ashes Wither (2 phases, 5 abilities) – summoning uses the same T-shaped structure as the vanilla Wither. The base blocks can be Soul Sand, Soul Soil, Ashes Dirt, or any mix of them. The top layer requires Ashes Skeleton Heads. Custom boss music and boss bar are not yet implemented (planned for future updates).
• 2 armor sets: Cinder Iron and Ashesite
• 3 biomes: Ash Plains, Ash Rift, Scarlet Abyss
• Ashes Smithing Table: An enhanced version of the vanilla smithing system. It adds two new functions: applying traits to equipment and upgrading vanilla gear. Smithing Templates are not required for most operations, except for upgrading Ashesite-series equipment, add armor trim and applying traits. Ashesite-series equipment can only be crafted at the Ashes Smithing Table — the vanilla smithing table cannot be used. Crafting Ashesite gear requires two specific advancements: summoning and defeating the Wither, and defeating and respawning the Ender Dragon.
• 14 traits in total (10 for vanilla base + 4 for L_Ender's Cataclysm) (datapack support for other mods)
• 1 accessory: Erosion Brand (high risk, high reward)
• New potion effects: Ash Burning, Ash Erosion, and Ashen Blood Regeneration

• Datapack system – Pack developers can add trait compatibility for other mods via datapacks without modifying the mod's source code.

Status

This is the initial release (v0.1.1). It includes sound and AI fixes. Boss music and custom boss bar are planned for future updates. Feedback is welcome.
