Totem on Death

Totem on Death introduces a death mechanic designed to encourage cooperation in multiplayer environments.

When a player dies, they can choose to respawn normally and lose an increasing number of items with each death, or they can respawn in Totem Mode.

In Totem Mode, players do not respawn immediately and do not lose their items. Instead, they enter a temporary respawn phase. During this phase, players must either:

1. wait for the respawn timer to expire (the default is 5 in-game hours).
2. Return earlier by using a respawner block.

The purpose of this system is to encourage teamwork, as you require the help of other players to respawn more quickly without losing items.

Respawner Blocks

The mod adds two types of Respawner blocks:

Survival Respawner

• Craftable in Survival Mode
• Decays over time
• Disappears after use or when fully decayed

  Creative Respawner

• Available exclusively in Creative Mode
• Allows unlimited respawns
• Does not decay

Players can respawn by standing on a Respawner during the respawn phase.

Crafting

Config

The following can be edited in the 'Totem-on-death.json' file (server-side):

• Time to respawn in seconds (TimeToRespawnInSeconds). Default: 5 hours.
• Whether the player should automatically respawn in Totem Mode (AlwaysRespawnInTotemMode). Default: false.

Do not edit the 'version' part of that configuration file.

Keep Inventory

The 'Keep Inventory' function should work as normal.
