I got tired of pausing mid-fight to dig gear out of shulkers, so I made the loadout look after itself. Exotherm but Gooditems by hwdgaf is a Fabric inventory helper for Minecraft 26.2: one-key sorting, hotbar refills, tool swaps, auto tools and weapons, a self-flying elytra, deep mending, and totems that work from anywhere.

Features

• One-key sort — hover a slot, hit R. Matching stacks merge and everything lines up across the player inventory, chests, the ender chest, and shulker boxes. Horizontal or vertical fill.

• Hotbar refills — burned-through slots pull the same item back from the main inventory, a bundle, a shulker, or the ender chest. I only let it refire on stacks that were genuinely used up, so manually moved items stay where they were put.

• Tools that outlive the moment — a tool about to pop swaps itself for a fresher copy before it breaks.

• Auto tool and weapon — the right hotbar pick jumps to hand when aiming at blocks or mobs, with separate Off / Look / Break and Off / Look / Hit settings. Bows and crossbows get picked for distant targets.

• An elytra with reflexes — falling with 2 blocks of clear air below equips the elytra and opens the glide on its own. I fly a lot and tuned the sensitivity slider until it felt instant without firing off stairs and slabs. Double-tap Space to swap by hand, burn a rocket to launch from standing, and the chestplate returns on landing.

• Mending that finds buried gear — experience flows to the most damaged (or random) mending piece wherever it sits: worn, carried, boxed in a shulker, rolled in a bundle, even nested inside the ender chest. I dug it down to any depth because a mending pick inside a shulker inside the ender chest is still a mending pick.

• Totems from anywhere — a totem tucked in a shulker or bundle still triggers, and a carried ender chest counts its contents too.

Sorting merges stacks honestly and repairs run through the vanilla mending path, so nothing about drops, hunger, or experience behaves differently. I kept the heavy lifting server-side, which is why multiplayer holds up.

For builders

A shulker riding in the pack counts as part of the inventory, even one nested inside the ender chest. Megabuilds turn into one long session instead of trips back and forth to a block yard lined with messy shulkers. If the mess is the fun part, fair enough, I got no problem with it. But skipping the whole open-break-place-open loop with shulkers saves serious time.

Requirements

Needs Fabric Loader and Fabric API, nothing beyond that. Mod Menu is optional and just surfaces the settings button.

Installation:

1. Install Fabric Loader for Minecraft 26.2.
2. Put Fabric API plus this mod's jar in mods.
3. Start the game — R sorts a hovered slot, O opens settings.

Compatibility

• Minecraft 26.2 on Fabric, in single-player and on dedicated servers.
• Server authoritative: refills, swaps, elytra, mending, and totems run server-side for everyone. The sort key and settings screen need the mod installed on the client.
• Adds nothing to the world, so dropping it into an existing save is safe.

FAQ

Already running a sorter — what changes?
One-key sorting stays, and the loadout half comes with it: refills, pre-break swaps, aim-following tools, the self-flying elytra, and mending that reaches nested containers, all in a single Fabric-API-only jar.

Can it run on a server without client installs?
The automation side lives on the server, so the full thing needs the mod there. Auto tool and weapon tracking still follow aim for vanilla clients once the server has it.

Will auto-swapping cause deaths?
It only swaps gear, never drops it, and the elytra refuses to swap back to armor mid-fall. Broken-tool swaps park the dying tool in the main inventory instead of deleting anything.

Does it clash with combat or building mods?
It never touches rendering or input beyond its own keys, and it stands down while container screens are open, so it stays out of other mods' way.

Where is the config stored?
At config/exotherm/exothermbutgooditems.json, and the O menu edits the same values in game.
