FastMinecarts

Break the speed limit in minecarts. FastMinecarts removes the vanilla and Spigot speed cap, letting you configure how fast your minecarts can go.

Commands

• /fastminecarts help – Displays the help message.
• /fastminecarts speed [value] – View or set the maximum minecart speed.

Permissions

• fastminecarts.speed – Allows viewing and modifying minecart speed (default: OP).

Configuration

The default max speed is 0.4 blocks per tick, configurable in config.yml or dynamically in-game with /fastminecarts speed [value]. Changes save automatically.

Corners / known limitations

Minecraft’s rail physics were never designed for extreme speeds. While this plugin removes the vanilla and Spigot speed caps, the underlying movement system still has hard constraints.

Slopes

When travelling up or down powered or regular slopes at very high speeds, minecarts can:

• Desync from the rail

• Clip into nearby blocks

• Be ejected from the track

To reduce this, FastMinecarts temporarily restores the vanilla speed cap while a minecart is on a slope, then re-applies the configured max speed once the cart returns to flat rails. This prevents most physics glitches, but very aggressive speed values may still cause instability.

Corners

Sharp 90° turns are especially sensitive at high velocity. Excessive speed can cause:

• Visual stuttering

• Sudden direction snapping

• Derailment or collision glitches

For best results, avoid tight right-angle turns at high speed. Instead, I recommend designing turns like this, or something similar:
