Timber & VeinMiner is a vanilla datapack for Minecraft 26.3 (Dappled Forest) that adds two quality-of-life features every survival player wants: chop one log and the whole tree comes down, mine one ore and the entire vein clears. No mods, no Fabric, no Forge — just drop it in your datapacks folder and reload.

Timber
Break any log and the datapack automatically detects the connected tree using a flood-fill algorithm. It spreads outward through every adjacent log block in all six directions, then follows connected leaves, clearing the entire canopy too. You don't need to stand under the tree — it works from any angle. Supports every wood type in the game including the new poplar trees added in 26.3.
Supported wood types: Oak, Spruce, Birch, Jungle, Acacia, Dark Oak, Mangrove, Cherry, Pale Oak, Poplar.

VeinMiner
Break any ore and the datapack traces every connected ore block of the same type, mining the full vein in one hit. Works on all overworld, deepslate, and nether ore variants, plus ancient debris. Capped at 128 blocks per vein to keep things fair and prevent lag on massive deposits.
Supported ores: Coal, Iron, Gold, Diamond, Emerald, Redstone, Lapis Lazuli, Copper, Nether Gold, Nether Quartz, Ancient Debris — including all deepslate variants.

Player-placed block protection
The datapack tracks which logs and ores you place yourself and will never auto-break them. Built structures and placed blocks are always safe. If you need extra protection over a larger area (for example, a log cabin or storage room), you can manually mark a 5×5×5 region around you as protected.

Per-player settings
Every player controls their own experience. Timber and VeinMiner can each be toggled on or off independently without affecting anyone else on the world. Open the settings menu anytime with /trigger tv.settings.
Commands (no operator permission required):

/trigger tv.settings — view current status
/trigger tv.timber_tog — toggle timber on/off
/trigger tv.vm_tog — toggle veinminer on/off
/trigger tv.protect — protect the 5×5×5 area around you
/trigger tv.unprotect — clear protection in that area

Installation

Download the zip
Place it in your world's datapacks folder
Run /reload in-game
You're done — a confirmation banner will appear in chat

Compatible with MC 26.3 Snapshot 1 and later (pack_format 108). No other mods or datapacks required.
