Fox Model Loader — Introduction

A custom player model mod for Minecraft · Based on NoSteveModel / OpenYSM from GitGud · Fabric & NeoForge

Fox Model Loader is a Minecraft mod built on top of NoSteveModel / OpenYSM that replaces the default player model with fully animated custom models. It uses Minecraft Bedrock Edition model and animation files (.ysm) and leverages GeckoLib to deliver rich animation playback — giving every player a unique character appearance.

This project preserves the original license and attribution notices. It focuses on compatibility updates, loader support, Android launcher support, Resource Station integration, animation improvements, and other new features for newer Minecraft versions.

If other mirrors of OpenYSM are unavailable, the GitGud source listed above is the source used for this port and continuation.

Legal and Content Boundary

Fox Model Loader only loads compatible user-provided .ysm model packages and related resources. This project does not include proprietary model assets, paid models, model decryption tools, or tools designed to bypass access controls.

Features

Custom Player Models

Load .ysm Bedrock-format model files to replace the default Steve / Alex skins. Each player can independently choose and switch between models and textures.

Full Animation System

• Molang expression-based animation engine with complex state machine support
• Built-in locomotion: walking, running, jumping, sneaking, swimming, flying, gliding
• Weapon animations: unique poses for sword, axe, pickaxe, shovel, hoe, mace, trident, and spear
• Use animations: bow drawing, eating, drinking potions, blocking, throwing, and more
• Independent main-hand / off-hand animation response; right-click behavior fully matches vanilla
• Custom animation conditions: held items, worn equipment, riding entities, current dimension, etc.

Resource Station

A built-in resource station in the model selection screen lets you browse a remote model repository and download models with one click:

• Supports .ysm and .zip formats
• Search, filter, and download queue management
• Built-in CDN acceleration for model repository downloads

Model Category Management

Create, rename, and delete category folders; batch-move models between categories. When deleting a category you can choose to keep or remove its contents. The cache refreshes automatically after operations.

Model Preview

Real-time 3D preview in the GUI with rotate and zoom controls for inspecting model details.

First-Person Arms

Replaces the vanilla first-person arms with custom arms matching the loaded model. Supports independent left/right hand bones with item holding and animation synchronization.

Multiplayer Sync

When a client switches models, the change is automatically synced to the server so other players on the same server can see the custom model. Server-side configuration for model upload permissions and file size limits is supported.

Android Support

Full support on Android with a built-in model selector and file import — the same experience as desktop. Android support has been tested on PojavLauncher, FCL, and Zalith Launcher.

• Elytra rendering fixes — unified custom Elytra render checks with vanilla suppression logic; enabled re-enable Elytra option by default
• Resource Station UI improvements — reduced layout overlap between buttons, text, and entry content; long labels now clip inside button bounds
• Download page overhaul — split into "Tasks" and "Finished" sections; multiple queued/active tasks displayed; completed/failed tasks move to a clearable finished list
• New translations — Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, French, Spanish, plus missing texts for resource station, download page, import states, and debug options
• Debug settings group — log, profiler, input state log, and resource station debug log options consolidated into a dedicated Debug section
